The problem
The US credit system is very different from Latin America’s. Many Spanish-speaking users, especially those starting their credit history, apply for cards they don’t yet qualify for. The result: constant rejections, frustration and a damaged credit history.
TarjetasDeCredito.us was a portal built to help the Hispanic community choose the right card for their profile. It ran on an affiliate model with creditcards.com, with commissions per approved card between USD 20 and USD 800. The potential was huge, but execution wasn’t aligned with the opportunity.
The main problem wasn’t traffic; it was data. On one side, traffic, behavior and user intent on the portal. On the other, real approval data from the affiliate: which cards were approved, for which profiles, ages and states. There was no way to connect the two, and without that connection, optimizing was impossible.
What we built
We fully re-engineered the analytics model, focused on three fronts.
Business-focused analytics
We redefined measurement around the event that matters most: the redirect to the partner, the real conversion.
Fragmented data, integrated
We crossed user behavior, search intent, card categories and real approval data from the affiliate. That showed us something critical: not all traffic is worth the same.
Funnel and UX optimization
We redesigned the portal so users segmented themselves correctly, saw options aligned with their real profile and raised their chances of approval.
The result
We turned an underperforming portal into a profitable business, reaching monthly revenue close to USD 18,000 with media costs of just USD 6,000–7,000. A highly efficient, scalable model.
We also joined the project as strategic partners, fully aligning incentives and execution.
The portal became a credit reference for Hispanics in the United States. We created a complete media kit to sell ad space, which opened an additional revenue line independent of the affiliate model.
Why it’s innovation
The problem isn’t always a lack of traffic; it’s not knowing what to do with it. We didn’t build a new platform: we rebuilt the intelligence behind an existing one.
When you connect intent, real business data and user experience, you stop generating visits and start generating results. Turning the portal into a media outlet with its own media kit shows we build complete business models, not just one-off optimizations.
